About Visible Alternative

Visible Alternative is the digital archive of projects and writing by Christian L. Frock.

Frock's work investigates contemporary art and cultural production in the public sphere, with a focus on alternative practices presented outside of institutional or gallery settings.  Subjects include public art and interventions, site-specific installations, happenings and events, avant-garde publications, artist multiples, and alternative spaces.

Invisible Venue, founded and directed by Frock since 2005, collaborates with artists to present art in unexpected settings in the public sphere. It is a small, free-floating, non-bureaucratic, contextually open-ended forum that encourages artists to make art that takes place in and engages with the world at large.

Christian L. Frock is an independent curator, writer and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
