Invisible
Venue seeks to create an information exchange about alternative
presentation formats for contemporary art and to explore the potential
for global public dialogue on free web-hosted social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook. Each site
contains profiles for Invisible Venue and each profile poses the following query: "Looking
for alternative exhibition formats for contemporary art: alternative
spaces, artist interventions, multiples, publications. Ideas?"
Respondents are encouraged to make suggestions about curatorial and
artist-driven projects that exist outside of conventional exhibition formats
(please include city/state/country). Additional resources, such as
suggested reading or websites, also welcome.
The objective of this project is to collect and disseminate information about independent initiatives in contemporary art and to explore the potential for global public dialogue on web-hosted social networks. Contributions will be published in an eponymous paper presented in "Site Variations: The Shifting Ground for Public Art," College Art Association Conference, Chicago, February 2010 and under the growing index of "resources" presented on www.invisiblevenue.com.
